Overview​

Database as a Service runs managed MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB and Redis instances with automated backups, monitoring and point-in-time recovery, so you get a database endpoint without operating the engine.

When to use it​

Use DBaaS when you need a production database but do not want to handle patching, backups and failover yourself — the default choice for application data stores.
