File Transfer

The File Transfer module provides comprehensive management of data transmission methods used for content ingestion and delivery. The system supports multiple transfer protocols including FTP, HTTP, SFTP, WebDAV, and AWS S3.

File transfer configurations established here are available for use in both content ingestion and distribution processes throughout the VMS system.

Supported Transfer Protocols

The Video Management Service supports the following file transfer methods:

  • FTP: File Transfer Protocol
  • HTTP: Hypertext Transfer Protocol
  • SFTP: Secure File Transfer Protocol
  • WebDAV: Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning
  • AWS S3: Amazon Simple Storage Service

Transfer Configuration Management

Add New Transfer Method

Click the red + Add button in the upper right area to launch the New File Transfer window.

Configuration Parameters

  1. Type: Select the transfer protocol type from supported options

  2. Name: Enter a unique identifier for the transfer configuration

  3. Connection Details: Enter protocol-specific information:

    • Username: Authentication username (where applicable)
    • Password: Authentication password (where applicable)
    • Host: Server hostname or IP address
    • Additional protocol-specific parameters

The configuration interface automatically populates relevant fields based on the selected transfer type.

  1. Click Submit to complete the transfer configuration

AWS S3 Configuration

For AWS S3 data transmission type, enter all required S3 information as shown below:

Edit Transfer Configuration

Click the Edit icon under Function Operation to modify existing data transmission configuration details.

  1. Update any required configuration information
  2. Click Submit to save changes

Delete Transfer Configuration

Click the Delete icon on the right side of a file transfer configuration in the listing to permanently remove the configuration.

Note: Configuration deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Verify that the transfer configuration is no longer needed before proceeding with deletion.

Configuration Usage

File transfer configurations are utilized throughout the VMS system for:

  • Source Input: Pulling content from remote locations for transcoding
  • Output Distribution: Delivering transcoded content to target destinations
  • Watch Folder Monitoring: Automated monitoring of remote directories
  • Backup and Archive: Long-term storage and backup operations

Properly configured file transfer methods ensure reliable content ingestion and delivery across the entire Video Management Service workflow.
